The Symmetry 2 Door Edge Network Door Controller isa security appliance for access control system providingdistributed intelligence, resilience and fast response to accessrequests.The Edge Network Controller supports two doors and providesfour general purpose inputs and two general purpose outputs.It can be powered by either a local power supply or Power overEthernet (PoE+).The Symmetry Edge Network Controller is fast and simple toinstall, supporting connections to Symmetry. Each SymmetryEdge Network Controller communicates with PCs running thefeature rich Symmetry security management software, v8.0.1 orlater. Direct network discovery and programming using Symmetrysoftware provides simplified installation. The security managementsoftware is used to set up the rules of access control, monitoralarms, produce reports and administer one or more facilities.READER TECHNOLOGIES & CARD FORMATSThe Symmetry Edge Network Controller supports a full range ofreading technologies including Smart Card, Proximity, MagneticStripe and Biometrics, and supports both Symmetry and Weigandcard readers. A number of default card formats are programmedas standard and there is a capability for custom formats to bedefined. This is particularly important when integrating existingcards with a new system.
SYMMETRY EDGE NETWORK CONTROLLERCONFIGURATIONSThe enclosure has a removable lid and tamper switch as standard.The Symmetry Edge Network Controller can be powered usingPoE, PoE+, or locally via a 12VDC supply.When powered using PoE+, 1500mA total is available for readerand lock power.TECHNICAL DETAILSThe Symmetry Edge Network Door Controller contains thesystem databases, performs the transaction processing andcontrols system communications. It is supplied as standardwith memory for up to 90,000 cardholders and 18,000 offlinetransactions.The Symmetry Edge Network Controller incorporates FlashMemory supporting downloadable firmware and allowingfirmware enhancements via a PC, simplifying upgrades andminimizing installation time.
